I feel sorry for all the times this year, and times before; when I had to rush through the timeline or reading page, what-have-you, and miss out on reading everyone's post because of time constraints or the limited battery life of my laptop. Now that we have a respite of internet at home (not sure how long it will last, since it is the result of one of my daughter's friends doing it without parental permission!) I will say that I am glad to read this entry of your's, and I truly enjoyed it. Thank you for this submission, and I promise to read more as I am able to.
What a wonderful, wonderful piece of writing. It made me all choked up. Men always ever long for peace and always do their best to destroy it. That last line, oh, that last line.

How little men of war change . . . even two hundred and ten years later still they don't.
Moving, nostalgic and heart-rending all at the same time.

Sweet and poignant because of two lines.
My business is war ...
. Nineteen fourteen though, that does sound like a good year for peace."

I so wish Jack and Stephen had had it right. I shivered writing it.
