Another fic - and on the long side too at close to six thousand words. Inspired by the beautiful Frank Capra movie It's a Wonderful Life ... I hope you enjoy it.
I could have dealt with Hen on the French side, but to read of dear Sophie, so desolate sure did it for me, just like the thought that Jack might have chosen the guillotine over declaring for Bonaparte that image would have been too close to the pillory for me *reaches for tissues and sniffles*
Oh, what a wonderful offering for today, even though I do not like that movie. But its ideas work well with Stephen. :D
I know he would not have, which means he wouldh have chosen the guillotine. Waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! *sniffles more and thinks of Tales of Two Cities and ST: Wrath of Khan*
I went for it being rung 48 times (4 times an hour) rather than the actual strokes because, umm maths isn't my strong suit either... *g*
Was it too upsetting? (Not that there's much I can do about it now, it is what it is!) I know it depressed the hell out of me as I was writing it, and I knew how it was going to end. I ask in all seriousness with a view to improving my writing - sometimes it gets very hard to see ones own work objectively...
This was amazing story! So sad and even upsetting, but that made the end even sweeter. And I also loved the idea of the ship's bell creating angels. Absolutely lovely and made me smile. Thank you so much for this.
Oh dear, I seem to have reduced everyone to tears with this one! I'm glad you liked it though. I wish I could say the bells making angels was my idea, but it is a straight lift from the film - as is Clarence himself!

I get the impression sometimes that the crew thinks Stephen goes round the bend on a regular basis, so what's one more trip... ;-)
Glad you liked it though.
