So I went to see The Battle of the Five Armies on Christmas Day.. The she-balrgogling loved it. Me, I almost fell asleep in places.

LOLOL! Yes indeed there was. I was bored in the first movie - all those unnecessary battles slowed the movie down - i still have not watched all of the second movie. Not sure I'll ever get to this one when it comes out on cable or PPV. But I reread the book before the first movie and it renewed my love of ME and my favorite hobbit, Bilbo.

ETA - this comment was supposed to be to the end comment about there being a book! Sorry...

pJ really does miss the greater whole, that the individuals were part of something bigger than themselves. This is such an important theme of Tolkien.

Tolkien has always been a personal preference for me, fandom or not, but the movie was definitely not good
