Bush made a rare interview with BBC news last week, which has been transcribed fully on the website. Catching Bush in an unprepped interview is always fun, and there be some typically abstract utterances by the Leader of the Free World:

I still have fond (for 'fond' read 'nightmarish') memories of his Trevor McDonald interview, in which he insisted that there was no need to have a coherent environmental policy because in the future technologies would be invented that would solve all such problems.

He wasn't specific about what these technologies were, or how he knew about their future existence, and it's to Sir Trev's everlasting discredit that he failed to ask.

As an American and political junkie, I can safely say that what you see on your news is not the half of it. Head meet desk. Repeat. Even my 11 year old looks at me and rolls his eyes when our President speaks.
