Far, far too confusing

Am trying to fathom the Mercian royal line for the 7th century, and it's a real headache. No two set of dates agree, and the births, deaths and ascensions of all sorts of people are accurate only to within about two decades--not helpful, kthnx Historia Brittonum &c.. That's more contradictions than I can cope with, I think...

I did find out that Penda is HRH Prince William's great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great grandfather though. Cool--the current royal family is directly descended from a dark age pagan tyrant from the Midlands.

Good grief. Next you'll be telling me the Hanoverians really were related to the Tudors, and whole current Royal line actually has a genuine claim to the throne!
