There's only so many utensils and plates, and there's only so long he can obsessively dry each one by hand, so eventually, he has to go to the living room, where Peter is listlessly watching television with the volume turned almost all the way down. His half-eaten plate is already set far aside. Gabriel sits down beside him, but not too close

This was lovely. I loved how everything in it was so close to normal but the atmosphere was just not at all.

I actually wrote an attempt at this prompt too but decided it was too awful to post. So, thanks anon, I did so want to see this done.
