The Swedes did a very sweet thing yesterday. They were keen to see my new game, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, which has just arrived in the shops. I was slightly put out that QA had nabbed the company copies of the game and were going to get to play it before me. I mean, I was only the chief bloody designer on the thing.

i wanted to ask you if you area game disgner..

would it be very hard to design something like Final Fantasy?

always thought of making or producing a game.. but really have no clue of how hard it is to design all the graphics.. and how much would the thing would come out to cost..

well.. i was just asking.. no big trouble if you disregard my post..

Yup, I'm a games designer.

I think the answer to your question is to take a FF title and just watch the credits. That will give you an idea of the kind of manpower resources required to make something like that. I have no idea what a FF title costs to make these days, but I doubt you'll be much change out of $20-30 million.

Of course, a non-graphic MUD is a lot cheaper to produce and code and there were many of these in the years before MMOs.

Yeah.. i used to play couple of MUDs in DIKU.. in early 90's ( ... )
