I haven't read about McNamara, and I was thoroughly engrossed in my medical career, having been deferred out of the war, to do dialysis where needed stateside, but that war was a lesson that went unheeded. The United States slid into the war embracing the concept of the "Domino Theory." The same institutional ignorance of history, but with a decidedly evangelical flavor, and an idiot in the White House, propelled the prevailing delusions of Rumsfeld and the Neocons to the gravest mistake in U.S. foreign policy in the last hundred years.

I suspect that I will find at least some characteristics in McNamara that I can respect. Rumsfeld is a detestable worm!
