A new hospital, a new doctor. I drove over to Stratford-upon-Avon this morning to be poked up the Aris by my new consultant. This one seems to be less gung-ho about surgery. Just keep going until something needs to be done is his philosophy

I still fume over the way Solihull was wrenched out of Warwickshire and dumped into the newly-created "West Midlands" (a political Frankenstein Monster if ever there was one). To this day, my father refuses to use the post-1974 address on his mail.
