I think this really can be canon. I mean...Hera...she does seem pretty bitter, to me, at times.

I any case, it expresses her feelings in this way -- and the way you've described Typhon -- only hope, loved one, monster...good dog. Yup. And the last line...it wraps it all up, but it shows Hera's feelings haven't changed...which is good, really. For this one-shot.
