I seem to have years where I have buckets of money but no time, and years where I have buckets of time but no money. On the "time, I got, money, I don't" years, I make a "signature" run of Xmas ornaments. Last year it was small knitted beaded box shaped ornaments. A couple years before that it was tatted beaded angel ornaments. Of course, this works well for those gift recipients that do Xmas trees. But, you could modify to general seasonal house decoration thingies.
It's not quite as "oh! you made this for me!" because, at the end, you feel like a factory worker churning them out. But, the recipient still feels well-gifted. Honest.
And this year is a serious "no time, gotta run" year. Sadly, the money bucket isn't exactly overflowing...
If you want to try hats, I do have those circle knifty knitter things or whatever they are calling them. I plan to try 'em out at some point.
I think Nana would love a blanket... and I bet you could do it. Pick a simple stitch, large thread and needle... and make it lap blanket size! Like a bit smaller than most baby blankets I do...

I think Nana would love a blanket... and I bet you could do it. Pick a simple stitch, large thread and needle... and make it lap blanket size! Like a bit smaller than most baby blankets I do...
