But, PMR, you're forgetting that Eric (or whoever) would offer Sookie a really neat contract right off the bat complete with a ridiculously generous salary (+ perks) that surprises and delights her. So really, there's no need for tricky negotiations.

Honestly, I don't know what you've been reading to get these crazy ideas you have... :D

Lol - he always does. They also have a conversation that deals with difficult issues in about 1 line. Like so:

"What about the blood bond?"
"It's a way to help you. I want it back."
"Oh. Okay. What about your marriage to someone else?"
"Yes. I need to do that."
"Oh. Okay. What about biting me and hurting me?"
"You deserved that. Move in with me."
"Yeah. That sounds good. Will I be sharing a bathroom with Freyda? I'm going to use the cluviel d'or to get my own bathroom."
"No, you can't do that. I need you to use the cluviel d'or to get my heart's desire. Which is no longer you, it's you doing as you're told."
"Oh. It can't change my fundamental nature, so how about I kill Felipe and make you King? I'll just agree with you about everything."
"That's good, my lover. You want what I want."

:D

Lol, I bet you could find a fic (or several) that is basically a padded out version of that conversation. I prefer to read you version.

And remember, there's a supe council that would listen fairly to any issues Sookie has with her contract, and they'd probably rule in her favour because she's a fairy princess.

Way more than one. :D And there are some that aren't even all that padded out. I prefer my version too - it ends up in the same place, and I would be able to launch into the ESN at that point in the story. :D :D

There's always a supe council. And then Niall reveals that he doesn't really give a shit about his descendant - he really wants Sookie to do what Eric tells her. I do so love the confluence of great-granddaddy and lover. :D

Oh, and then the Ancient Pythoness comes in and tells them that it's destiny, and how important it is to bone and do what you're told, and we're on our way to vampire babies who mysteriously become saviours of the world. :D

I'm curious as to your assumption that there are three telepaths at Rhodes - as you later point out, that block could have been put in place by witches. So it may just have been a human who carries a lot of information and they don't want to risk it being looked at by telepaths.

But yes, I'm right there with you - Sookie as a contracting telepath - never gonna happen.

There were three telepaths - Mr. Cataliades, Sookie and Barry. None of them read what was going on in the servers' heads. The block probably was put in place by a witch, but that was probably the ring leader, rather than all the other serving people, who didn't have 'metaphysical helmets' on. The fact that someone can do it means that it's available for use to prevent Sookie looking into any heads.

It's too dangerous. Harper could do it because she wasn't doing anything over and above finding dead bodies - and vampires can do that fine all by themselves. If not, they can bring one from home.

Oh Mr Cataliades! Of course! *goes to look for brain that clearly fell out somewhere*

I'm glad you included the part where Eric is her pimp - I mean manager. Of course, he would set aside his own job and existence to escort his bonded (don't forget that part) telepath around while she uncovers the plottings of evil humans against saint-like vampires.
I'm unsure why fanfic focuses so much on Sookie using her telepathy as a career, unless it's a variation on the theme that she's just not good enough the way she is. She's happy. I wouldn't want to be a waitress forever, but Sookie seems to enjoy it. And she may call in a loan in DR, but I suspect that cash infusion she gave Sam will turn out to be an investment in the business, as Sookie and Sam become, not life partners, but business partners.

Lol - he loves pimping. It goes with his gaudy belt buckles. Don't forget she finds out that Bill is a really bad vampire along the way. Eric is a good vampire, and humans are disgusting things you should let die for their hatred of things liable to eat your children.

I think it's definitely class snobbery. Lots of these people look down on waitresses as worthless human beings. She's not good enough for Eric as she is, and so she needs to be a better thing for him to fuck. Up to the high standards of the immortal killer as it were. :D

Well, I've been thinking about that loan - and the forms she filled in for him. Before her knees go, why not segue into doing the paperwork for Sam - and maybe a few other businesses - that way she can be in the same environment, but with less strain.

Where did it say that Sophie Anne paid Sookie $15,000? I don't remember that. I was curious about how much she was paid. Doesn't seem like a lot for a weeks work 24/7.
Plus she didn't get paid for quite some time either. She asked Eric about it I think twice.

Sorry - I got the number wrong, and I'll amend it. It was $25,000 - but that's not a lot anyway. Not much more. And it was from CH herself on her website:

"Sophie Anne probably would have given Sookie quite a bonus, but since she wasn't able to authorize that when the check was cut, Sookie got paid $25,000. That's actually reasonable for the time she put in."

She asked Eric about it twice.
