It’s not the fact that she wasn’t a judge that bothers me, in the history of the Senate there have been scads of others that weren’t judges, but it’s that sickly worry about not knowing her position. Luckily she’s not a rabid conservative justice that the Republican party was hoping Bush would nominate, but who knows how she’ll vacillate? They let Roberts get confirmed with him barely answering any hard questions. You can imagine how a CORPORATE lawyer will worm their way through the questioning session.

I'm sure Bush wouldn't have nominated her if he weren't sure that she'd vote the way he wants her to... but I'm still incredibly amused to see both the Dems and the Repubs being blindsided. I see senators from both sides on TV looking like they just got smacked in the head, going "Uh... well... I don't know..." Not saying this is good, but it's entertaining.
