An oddly appropriate bash.org quote: the other day i found out that my Uni's fire evacuation policy for ppl with wheelchairs is to 'push them into a room, close the door, escape and then give the room number to the firemen'
Hadn't thought about bash.org and its ilk for a while.
Is there a name for that particular brand of humor/snark?
It's so often juvenile, but often scales to tremendous heights of hilarious sophomoricness. I see traces of it - and sometimes try to generate some- in some of the indy game forums I frequent.
my description of it from there: It's... I dunno. In some ways its better than what Usenet used to offer, pithier and more observant, more prone to snarky bon mot, full of a certain self-aware ironic swagger. Also, generally free to ignore taboos on racist and homophobic etc remarks, but also self-deprecating, and not afraid to show a sweet side, saying "awww, puppies!" when appropriate, with that putting it one step beyond some of the usual frat-ish idiocy I'm used to.
