I think I mentioned that my record for reversebang writers not going AWOL is, well, it's good if it's a batting average. (2 out of 6 didn't disappear, though by the way, the ones that finished? Awesome).

"Don't panic!" Sulu shouted, sounding admittedly a little panicked.
"He is a terrible transporter tech!" Chekov shouted back, outraged.
Which was completely accurate. Otherwise they would have been transported to solid ground. Not to the middle of the sky. Sulu was sure there were safety mechanisms in place to prevent things like that ( ... )

"They don't know if the water's dangerous," Sulu reported, rolling his eyes.
But Chekov wasn't looking at Sulu. He was looking past Sulu.
Sulu slowly turned in the water, to look at the rocks towards the edge of the lake.
"Sulu to Enterprise," he said very softly.
"Yes, Mr. Sulu?" Spock replied.
"Is it the water?" McCoy cut in.
"Not exactly," Sulu hissed.
Chekov swam in close, so he could say to the comm. "It is the mermaids."
There was a soft click and then it was Uhura on the line. "Mr. Sulu can you please repeat."
"Mermaids." Sulu repeated, woodenly. "Six of them. I really hope they're not hungry."
"I am small and not very tasty," Chekov offered.
Sulu looked at Chekov.
Chekov smiled. "I'll find your sword in the bag, yes?"
"Yeah. Yeah that'd be good."
