Name: Amber
Age: Twenty Seven
Gender: Of the female persuasion
Location: Fort Qu'appelle, Saskatchewan, Canada
Occupation: Educational Assistant, moonlighting as an assistant librarian. Also, a part time student taking a Family Literacy Certificate course. Will be shedding the EA title when I'm taking my bachelor of Education this fall.
Dream Job: Fam Lit program facilitator for Treaty 4. Executive Director of my own aboriginal-literacy-based non profit organization.
Languages: English and some Cree.
Email: amd.7202(@)gmail(.)com

About me: I am stubborn, vaguely sarcastic, level headed, and happy as a clam. I love to network, meeting new people is the best thing about family literacy and education. My sense of humor is questionable at the best of times (read: I can be rather vulgar and inappropriate). I work with youth, some troubled, some gifted, all interesting and deeply creative in their own way. I am a life long learner. I have dreadlocks, which might throw you off the whole "into education and sh*t" vibe. My earlobes are stretched, and I also have some tattoos. My employers are amazing, and I love the conversations I can get into as a result.

Interests/Hobbies: Since I work part time in a library, I can say with conviction that I am a voracious reader. I'll read anything you throw at me. I also knit, and am a member in good standing with the local knitting group -- meaning I have fostered great friendships with some of the older birds. Oh, the crazy conversations that have cropped up over the past year. I am a terrible gardener, but that doesn't stop me from trying. I've killed many plants, and our old cat used to eat anything else that looked like it was growing higher than 5 inches. Bugger. I'm also training for a 5K, but you could never tell since I am rather soft and lumpy looking. Granted, I am less soft and lumpy than 2 months ago. It's a long haul. I enjoy music, but am not the musical type - as in, my children take piano and violin, I just listen to them practice and pay for their lessons.

Music: Tom Waits, Amanda Palmer, The Dresden Dolls, Disturbed (also Device), Concrete Blonde, BeeGees, K.D. Lang, 4 Non Blondes, David Bowie, Queen, Freddie, Mercury, Kimbra, Walk Off the Earth, Skinny Puppy, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Jeff Buckley, The Horrorpops, Tool (also Puscifer and A Perfect Circle), Ohgr, Otis Redding, The Smiths, Radiohead, Morrissey, Rocket From the Crypt, Elliot Smith, The Doors, The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, How to Destroy Angels, Front Line Assembly, KMFDM, Assemblage 23, Bob Dylan, Mindless Self Indulgence, Metric, Serena Ryder, Tiesto, Katie Herzig.

Movies: Tokyo Gore Police, A Clockwork Orange, Repo! The Genetic Opera, The Evil Dead (haven't seen the remake yet), Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, Martyrs, Suckerpunch, Irreversible, Audition, Reservoir Dogs, Fight Club, Choke, Trainspotting, Taxi Driver, and so on and on. I'm into movies, I keep an open mind.

Books: O GOOD LORT, I CAN READ! I might end up getting carried away with my favorite books, like I did with my favorite music list. Best recent book I've finished was Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. Best hilarious book was Let's Pretend This Never Happened by the Bloggess.

TV: Bates Motel, Duck Dynasty, Hoarders, Mythbusters, Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural (Cas 4 Life), Glee!, Doctor Who, Fringe, Dexter, and True Blood.

Pen pal Info:
Do you want email pals? Nay. I type enough on the laptop for school as it is.
Do you want snail mail pals? Yes sir!
How long are your letters? Years ago, I used to average 5 to 30 double sided pages. Now I average 3 to 10 double sided pages.
Reply time? I reply on weekends, so I'd give a week or two turnaround.
Where would you like them to be from? Canada or US. Postage is ridic. Unless I can guarantee the envelope will be stuffed to the gills (well, a proper 30g letter), only then I can justify the international postage. Also, I am a cheap a*s. If you are super interesting and hilarious, I might change my mind.
Age preference? 25 and up.
What are you looking for in a pen pal? Someone cool to share letters with. I don't care if you have a tendency to drop off the face of the letter writing world, because I did that somewhat often within the past 5 years. I'm here to stick around for a while because I enjoy writing letters. If we used to be penpals and I stopped writing to you, send me a message! If you stopped writing to me for some reason or another, send me a message! I'm easy going (you kind of have to be if you work with teenagers for a living). Be open minded. I'm a huge gay rights activist, pro-life activist, women's rights activist, religious freedom activist, and anti-standardized-testing type of person.
