Nice town, Urbandale. I'm from up by Waterloo and get down there once in a while. The Machine Shed has the biggest cinnamon rolls I've ever seen!

Hi Emily. I just moved from Carlisle,IA a hair over a year ago. I lived mostly in Des Moines. I'm back with family members now,in Tennessee. (9 years in Des Moines is enough for me) LOL

You just can't beat the natural beauty of the mountains. I missed it.
Don't get me wrong there's a lot of friendly Des Moinians,I just had enough of a "big city" life. Guess it's true what they say-you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy. :-)

I've been to Tennessee a few times and from what I saw, it's a beautiful state. :^) I think that there's gorgeous places everywhere, but there's something special about where you feel at home that makes it the MOST perfect. hehe

I agree. But there are two places where I feel at home, not just one:

1) Wherever my family is

2) The less populated more nature filled places (the wilderness) the better.

Are there any beautiful places where you are? I don't just mean nature per se (many different people have just as many different views on beauty). I love to go camping in the most wild secluded places in nature I can find. :-)
What about you?

I definitely understand the two places you feel at home. They both are home to you for different reasons. :^D

Nature wise, there's not a WHOLE lot too close where I am, but there are definitely bits of natural beauty that peek out at different times. Deer and geese somehow find their way into the back yard and have made themselves comfortable. And no matter what develops, building or business wise, the blue of the sky won't be supressed completely. :^)

Camping is something I've not done in years. I DID enjoy it when I was able to, though.
