i'm cleaning out my scary email inbox, and just found this unanswered query from you.

Dear Cod: at some point in the last year or two, some friends and I started saying "dear cod" where we might have said "dear god(s)". otterkin decided to illustrate the thought for me at some point.

Shift Freedom: My friend Kate (ie, one of my many amazing friends named Kate) has a necklace made from an old typewriter key that says "shift freedom". It was the "undo shift-lock" key, but has such a marvelously suggestive ring to it, finding liberty through movement and change. It strikes me as the kind of freedom we can bring to ourselves, and I like that idea.
