It's getting colder

We've been closed for almost a week, and inertia is setting in.  Sam is out of town, Rudy left today, and the house is empty and still.  I try to send out three or four job applications a day, if there's anything remotely promising to be found on craigslist.  Gonna beat the pavement a bit when I get home and see if I can turn up anything local.  In

Last night, a storm groaned in over the Golden Gate. Weather tourists gathered at the Presidio to watch the clouds. The rain whipped itself into a sea of thick droplets, cooler than the air. The wind blew trees over just blocks from my house. Puddles made me realize the landscape in a new way; what was a flat path is now a lake, what was predictable is not anymore.

It's raining here too! After a couple of drizzly days of meteorological ambiguity, the sky made a decision and it's coming down good and proper. I'd be more excited, but I have to spend six hours on the freeway in the near future, and my window doesn't roll up all the way. Balls.
