Mary McDonnell - Unimpress Me

First things first: There is really only one Tie That Bound me to that episode and that is Mary McDonnell. I have never watched an episode of Grey's before, because the teasers alone were not quite my cup of tea, and when I heard Mary McDonnell had signed up for a role on that show I was a bit baffled at first, though ( Read more... )

the sexiest man on that show is a fucking ghost!!!!!!!!

Hell yes! *cough* What?!

The last scene with Bailley in the elevator was just brilliant. And yes, I so wanted to hug her, too! (There is a reason why Jerry on Boston Legal is my favorite character - and probably the only reason I still watch that show although Bill Shatner annoys the hell outta me!)

on a sidenote the paragraph under the pictures just made me snicker

i can't believe that Dr. Bailey didn't realize about her condition before, I thought she was smart. I guess all will diferent in her next episode once everybody knows her condition.

I loved too the elevator scene and what she says about the hospital.

BTW, Shonda Rhime seems to be a BSG fan: first, she got Mary for the show and then creates a head's character. Danny. LOL

*lol* Yeah, it was written in a way that implied the other characters either didn't think about or didn't want to ask any questions when they realized Virginia was a little "off".

This was truly a "jump the shark" episode for me. I have sort of watched the show, meaning I'll have it on but don't pay that much attention to it, even though I seem to retain stupid plot points, LOL. If Mary McDonnell weren't going to be on it anymore, this would have been the last episode I even did that for. There wasn't even any good Seattle porn. ;)

I'm glad you find ghost!Denny at least sexy. I couldn't believe they brought him back yet again. *groans* I laughed and laughed reading the first six pages or so of comments on this episode over at Television Without Pity.

Mary was very good--too good for this show.

LOL, Anne I thought the same thing....This season has gotten progressively deplorable and last night just broke me. If it weren't for more Mary, I'd be out of there. IDK if Shonda and the team were thrown a curve ball or if the writing has always just sucked this much, but MAN.
Great review as always Pens.

Have you seen what the people at TWoP say about Shonda Rhimes? I'd never paid that much attention, but read some of the comments about this episode after I watched it. Let's just say they're not very fond of Shonda, LOL.

Thank you, Lipsy. It's interesting to read the opinions on this episode of those people who have actually watched the show before. It must have been really bad in comparison. *lol*

I think I've watched maybe 5 episodes of this show now. The last two were pretty decent. This one, Mary aside, was the suck. The pretzel guy plotline did not interest me at all, the Navajo guy was an exercise in stereotypes, and BSG has already given me enough Head!People to last a lifetime. Dixon and Bailey were really the only good parts of the show.

I wonder if we'll know when Mary's other episodes are gonna be aired, or if we'll have to watch all of them and hope that she shows up.

Ms. Penny, I can't agree more. That last scene was just a sucker punch to the gut. I gotta give the Wee Little Doc some credit for really looking horrified by her actions and obviously I wanted to give Dr. McAwesome a hug. That shot though of Sandra O looking around after Dr. McAwesome dismissed her cracked me up. The long shot was perfect and Mary kept going and didn't just wait for the scene end.

She is brilliant . . . do we know which episode she's in next?

((((your lovely self)))))

She is, and I think the December 4th episode. The 3rd one will have us waiting for a while longer I'm afraid. :(

Okay, you're gonna laugh but when I saw ((((your lovely self)))) I actually thought, "She wants me to hug myself?" :P

So the 2nd ep will ties us over until BSG then while we're all huddled together trying to hang on as we finish watching BSG we'll be given a Mary ep. I think I can handle it.

Also, is it me or were they trying to make her look homely? Something was up with her make up and I couldn't tell if it was on purpose or not.

Well, my arms can't quite reach you, so in fact, yes, I want you to hug yourself. But I'll be thinking of you while you're doing so. :P

I can't handle anything anymore when it comes to tragic dear to my heart characters. :'(

Also, is it me or were they trying to make her look homely? Something was up with her make up and I couldn't tell if it was on purpose or not.Homely? As in ugly? :o She wasn't overly covered in make up and her clothes were not perfectly...uhm, coordinated, but I thought that was indeed on purpose because it fit her character. I mean I don't have a broad knowledge about Aspergers and there are probably people with that condition who do put a high value on their outer appearance and all that crap, but I thought her ( ... )
