I'd honestly never thought about it, ever, until one day I was reading a fic that featured an ex-boyfriend of Sherlock's, and I was having trouble picturing him, so I selected Matt Bomer to represent the character in my imagination.

The very next second, I knew that Sherlock and Neal were in a relationship when they were younger. It just fit in my head. Once it was there, it refused to leave, so I had to get it out.

I'm sure you don't need more reasons. ...Okay, Peter/Neal relationship is verging on canon, never mind the Peter/Neal/Peter's wife relationship.

I never really saw Peter and Neal together. I mean, I guess it could be...interesting? But I adore Peter's relationship with his wife. Elizabeth is such a fun and sweet character, and it's so refreshing to FINALLY have a law-enforcement protagonist with a stable, happy marriage. The whole failed relationship thing is so clichee at this point! Peter and Elizabeth are a breath of fresh air to me.
