I really hope you don't take this badly... but I just can't leave it unsaid...

I'm not sure what I've just read. I feel like I have been totally mind fucked and not in a good way...

You say, This piece is heavily inspired by the epitaph on Zuko’s grave but... we didn't see Zuko's grave at the end of the series because well... he didn't die. And not enough info has been released about the new series for us to know that.

Wow.

As someone who's genderqueer, I have to commend you for the thoughtfulness you showed in the construction of your story.  You clearly did your research for Sexual Reassignment Surgery, and the way you fit the concept into the Avatarverse was sheer brilliance, utilizing bending to reshape a person's body to more closely fit the target gender.  Since our understanding of their technologies is inefficient and mostly reliant on guessing, your method was especially impressive and feasible.

Your warning for angst became apparent early on and maintained its intensity to the very end.  At the time you mentioned Zuko's perfectly unscarred face, coupled with your warning, I was able to figure out what had happened, although seeing it play out before me took away none of the suspense.

I must also mention that this is the only way I could ever read "Sokkla", even though your story was Zuko/Sokka at heart.  ;)

Fantastically done!  I'm glad I decided to give your link a look.

Thank you!! Gender identity (and LGBTQ issues in general) has always fascinated me. I wondered how this would be received from a genderqueer individual, and I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it. Though a sex change would be considerably different from blood-bending, cells are mostly water anyway so with a little tweak of the imagination it IS quite feasible. I'm a little jealous, to be honest.

So I'm glad you gave my link a look, too. =)
