LOL! We loathe writing catalog tip sheets in my office, so I empathize. Thankfully, the DEs don't usually have to write the other stuff in my neck of the woods or we'd really go nuts.
I'm hoping your experience with the CT library system is a harbinger of good times for me when I finally get my Jersey library card (haven't had time to get to my local library yet). Though I'm having a hard time envisioning my adoration for the NYPL dissipating anytime soon.
My public library system isn't stellar, but when I was doing essays in uni, I always checked there first. An item with 20 holds on it at the uni library was usually free and available at the public library, because most of the other students were too lazy to go off campus.
An editing question that's not job related: When you have a large amount of dialogue from one character, I know you can split it into paragraphs and signal that by not having the closing quotation marks. But is there a set formula for this? I.E., "If dialogue runs more than 10 lines, split it".
