May 01, 2007 02:42

I had considered on doing a time lapse, but instead found several time lapse aerogarden videos on YouTube like this one. It's really amazing to see the progress live though.

That is AWESOME!!! I'm looking forward to see your harvesting photos :)

Is the light really bright? I figure, that if I get some for my Coleus, I would probably need six of them... hehe

The light is really bright, I think I read that it's about 1450 lumens. That's why I started putting seedlings around it, even those are growing really well with the aerogarden lights.

I do want to get the Master Gardener Aerogarden Kit and put in my own seeds. That's an idea to set up an aerogarden of coleus...hmm...

I am interested in seeing if these pick up in general interest, then maybe they'll sell for less than $100.

You know Mother's Day is coming up, would you mom get a kick out of one? :)

That's a good idea to take advantage of the light.

I'm curious, what is the planting medium? Peat? Perlite? Vermiculite? Sponge?

I'm just wondering, because I just bought a pakage of Watersorb (water retaining crystals) and I'm wondering if that can be used as a growing medium... hmm?

That'll be nice if they get popular and drop in price. I don't know if my mom would like one though, since see doesn't really grow thing or start plants indoors.

The planting medium is a sponge in a plastic pod and water is regularly pumped to each pod.

My strawberry plant kit arrived yesterday and I set up my second aerogarden this morning. I took macro photos of the roots and sponge and will try to post today.

Laugh, I don't know if I really consider my salads aerogarden to be gardening. It's been very light on maintenance.

The Wonder Soil wafers I have seem to have water retaining crystals in them. I definitely don't like them for seedlings. They seem to be okay with mature plants. I don't know for sure, but just about all seedlings I had in wonder soil seem to have been easily succumbed to early blight. I used wonder soil for potting up some tomatoes, they seem to be fine and are being hardened right now.

Hi and welcome!

I have the regular Aerogarden 2006. I only ordered it around April and was hoping to get a 2007. Oh well. I heard they came out with a new Pro version, I don't know what's new about it other than the steel finish.

We really like the salads kit. Grows fast and minimal maintenance. Gosh, I don't even consider it gardening. And honestly, I really think I notice the leaves grow when I glance over.

I'll have to visit your blog, do you have any of your knitting posted? I just finished a pinwheel baby blanket for my niece, but she reads my blog. I'll have to post after I send it to her. I doubt she reads any of my gardening posts. ;)

The blanket is about done being blocked. Whee!
