What's wrong about not liking uncomfortable silences ?

So once again today I felt like I was being observe like a curious beast by all the lovely people on my course and why is that you'll ask me ? Well , I'll tell you only because I can't stand silences and that when the lecturer actually ask a question I feel like it's my duty to answer it . So today I spent nearly an hour answering to the

All I have to say is screw them. I had that same problem. Why, when no one answers, should you not answer. Are they boycotting the teacher? Be proud of being a know-it-all. We're the ones that actually learn things.

I'm quiet and painfully shy so I don't have that problem but what do you care anyway? I used to have that teacher that would NOT go on at all if somebody didn't answer him and it could last for freaking ever. You'd have been very useful back then :)
