I was thinking on the drive home about all the books I wanted to write in high school. I still have the titles and abortive attempts saved somewhere, because I never get rid of anything I write, no matter how terrible. That said, I don't think I'll be going back to that terribly clichéd Holmes pastiche, to name just one.

I think there might have been another one in there, but I don't know what it was.
All the original novel projects I've finished (2) have been so awful I've left them in a metaphorical drawer while waiting to go back to them (or write sequels/prequels, because I never write small), because I was so focused on just keeping on writing that I slogged through. I admire that you can finish something actually... showable to the public.

2) I still get all excited and squeeful when I talk about it. I am shameless.
3) Oh, I've been lucky. I did a study abroad program my junior year that gave me four weeks off between terms, which was lovely. Now I'm hoarding my vacation time in the hopes that I'll be able to get back over sometime soon.

But I haven't shown it yet, is the thing. I've heard you need to write an average of 2-6 manuscripts before getting something saleable, which is terrifying given how invested I am in this one. I'm trying not to think about it in those terms, though, because if you do think that way you'll never finish the project you're on.
