"Tired" is a complicated word.  There's "I ran ten miles and could really use a breather" tired, and then there's the "I woke up for this?" kind of tired. 
There's also the "I woke up at 5:17 swam for two hours then worked at a library for two and a half after and still don't feel awake" tired.

most are plot significance. ;(
but there's one that i liked that i lied and said was significant. it was like
"nay, little pearl! thou must gather thine own sunshine, for i have none to give thee!"
or something.
it took maybe 2 hours.
