Every Parent's Nightmare

About 45 minutes north of where I live, this little girl was kidnapped yesterday.  There was an amber alert, so I think the news spread nationwide.  The guy who did it grabbed her right in front of two people, and pulled her into his car (I don't think he saw them).  They chased after him as soon as they saw what was happening, but they couldn't ( Read more... )

That is so scary. That poor family. :(

We live out in a more country farm area, so the neighbor kid and I always had more of a free area to run as kids. It scares me now to know that anyone could have drove by and tried to take us. My mother only seemed paranoid when we were in town shopping and such.

I dont have any kids of my own yet, but i've found that im a lot more paranoid than my mother. My cousin always had to deal with me being overprotective of her when I would babysit. And I still watch her if we go out together somewhere (even if she is 14 now. Teenagers and adults get kidnapped too, after all)

I still keep an eye on my younger cousins and my best friends son. Theres just something in me that has to keep one eye on them. It might be paranoia, but you cant really complain when those kind of abductions happen all the time.

Yeah, that's where I live. My roommate and I just sat here equal parts horrified and flabbergasted for a long while when we heard about it. The guy worked in the school system for the past 17 years, too - that's what has me flabbergasted. I don't know, was it something completely random that made him snap, or was there something else going on all along? I don't get it. :/

And it definitely makes me feel more paranoid for the kids I go work with every now and then in the school district's music programs. :(

The poor family. :(

It's horrible to hear about this kind of thing happening, and makes you hug your family tighter.
