Author's note: This chapter is not one of my best and I am sorry about that. I know that there will be these 'low quality' chapters more - I think the next couple one's suck badly, but I have no idea how to save them. I have had really hard time with writing lately, but I hope that it will come easier now. Don't know where my muse went, but I hope it'll come back <3 So I'm sorry, and I still hope that you will keep up with the story. I promise that it will get better too. :)

Chapter 4
Present day
“Liz,” Dean whispered and wobbled backwards. He was in shock - Liz just couldn't be there. She couldn't. Dean looked at her and felt his shock go deeper. She wasn't that fragile girl anymore: she looked confident and so much darker. Dean had to struggle to see even a little glimpse of that peaceful, smiling girl, who had made the funny feeling tickle inside of Dean. Liz picked up her hat from the floor, put it on her head and left in a hurry, without a word. The whole restaurant was staring at Dean, but Dean just stood there looking at the place where Liz just had stood.
“Dean,” Sam said sharply, but it had no effect on Dean. His eyes were empty and his whole body gave out the beaten feeling of his body and mind.
“Dean,” Sam said again, louder and shook Dean. Dean woke up from the shock and turned to look at the door, hoping to see just one more glimpse of her. She was long gone by now, and in the restaurant there was nothing that reminded Dean of her.
“Dean,” Sam said for the third time and this time he got Dean’s attention. Dean looked at his brother and his eyes weren't empty anymore: they were full of shock and pain, but in the next minute his eyes looked the same as always. But inside, Dean felt shocked and his conscience ate him. He didn't say anything to Sam - he didn't know what to say. So he just walked to the table, sat down and continued eating.
Sam sat down. too. Dean didn't look at him, and tried to keep his own face as normal as he could. Inside he felt like throwing stuff, breaking something, killing someone. Meeting Liz wasn't what he had expected to happen - ever. He thought... He had believed that Liz was something he never had to deal with.
“You want to tell me what just happened?” Sam asked and tried to eat too. Dean pushed his thoughts about Liz to the back of his mind and raised his eyes to meet Sam's.
“What do you mean?” Dean asked playing dumb. He did not feel like talking to Sammy about the incident before, and even less he wanted to talk about the events long before that. Sam looked at him.
“Dean, don't do that. I'm not stupid. You just pushed a girl to the wall and out of the blue you let her go. She disappears and you forget everything around you,” Sam said, and Dean looked at his food again. He really didn't want to talk about that.
“She just got on my nerves and then I realized she is a girl, so I let go. She got scared or something,” Dean explained, but didn't look at Sam anymore. He knew that Sam would never believe him, but still he had to try.
“Yeah, right,” Sam said in a mocking voice, with a little bitterness in the mix. Dean felt a little bad for not telling his brother what was really happening, but he just couldn't. How could Sam ever understand? Dean didn't answer - he just kept eating. Sam didn't break the silence, but he didn't eat either. He was looking out through a window.
They didn't say a word during the rest of breakfast, and Dean was the only one who actually ate. Sam was lost in his thoughts and Dean tried to keep his mind busy by eating. Still his mind traveled back to the moment when he finally realized who she was. He wished he didn't, he wished she would just be another hunter like Sam said.

After breakfast they headed back to their motel. Nothing had changed since they had left there: the room was still a mess. Now they knew Liz wasn't the one doing that.
“So if this.. Liz didn't do this, who did?” Sam said and those were the first words he said to Dean after their conversation at breakfast. Dean’s facial muscles got tighter when Sam mentioned Liz's name. He didn't like it: Sam barely knew that it was her name. Dean wanted to suggest to Sam not to call her Liz or not to talk about her at all. But he didn't. If he suggested something like that Sam would want to know why, and then the same conversation would start again.
“Maybe the werewolf,” Dean suggested and tried to sound as normal as possible, “No matter who it was this room needs to be cleaned.”
“I agree,” Sam said and started to pick stuff up from the floor.
“Sorry, dude, but I'm not going to clean anything. Call the maid,” Dean said, turned around and left the room. Maybe he could lose Sam for a while, so he could get his thoughts in order. But Sam came out after Dean.
“Dean, we can't call the made. Do you still remember that we got a few weapons in our room?” Sam asked, and Dean stopped at the porch.
“Pay her a little extra. That should keep her mouth shut,” Dean suggested. Sam looked at him and Dean sighed.
“Fine. Let's not clean it up,” Dean said and he really didn't care, “Let's go see the family of that werewolf from last night.” Sam sighed, and pushed the motel room’s door closed.
“Fine.” The brothers walked side to side to the Impala. They sat like usually: Sam as shotgun, Dean as driver. In the car Sam took the pile of missing person announcements. He knew what he was looking for and soon he put the pile away keeping just one announcement in his hand. Dean didn’t pay attention to what Sam did: he knew he was doing something that included the werewolves and that was enough.
Dean started to drive even though he didn't know where he was supposed to go. Driving always helped him when he felt horrible, but this time he couldn't drive fast enough - there wasn't enough speed for Dean to concentrate fully on his driving.
“Hello. Mina Cage? This is agent Scott. I would like to talk to you about your brother,” Sam talked on the phone and it brought Dean back to Earth. He started listening to the conversation as he drove around.
“I doubt it is a good idea to have this conversation on the phone. Could we come over to see you? We’ll be there in a few minutes”, Sam finished his phone call and put his phone back in his pocket. Dean looked at him waiting for directions.
“Mina Cage is Martin Cage's sister. I promised that we would go there right now,” Sam said and Dean just nodded. Nothing distracted better than good investigation - nothing but a good kill.

Dean stopped his car on the side of the road, looking around him. The street looked like a nice environment; there were normal people, doing their normal business. Sam and Dean got out from the car and Sam lead them towards one house, which was Mina Cage's. When they stepped in the yard, the front door opened and a woman came out from the house.
Her lips formed a soft and a little sad smile when she saw Dean and Sam. Proudly she walked towards them keeping the smile on her face. Her appearance and her facial expression were in a big conflict with each other, but she didn't seem to notice. Her reddish hair was curly and it moved smoothly conforming to the woman's movement. It reached her shoulder blades and shined against the black jacket of hers. Under the black jacket she was wearing a red shirt and with those she had black skirt. Her high heels made a little sound every time they hit the tiled path.
Dean and Sam walked towards the woman, much slower than her. Both of them were a little surprised by the obvious fact that she was coming to them. She stopped when she reached the boys and looked at them with her beautiful brown eyes which had a hint of a gold.
“It’s so good that you are finally here, agents. The whole town has been so broken by these disappearings, but you are here to solve them, right?” she started to talk like she knew them. Her voice gave Dean chills when he recognized it. He glanced at Sam to see if he noticed it too, but even if he did his face didn't give him away.
“Yes we are here to solve those. And you are?” Sam started to talk with his official agent voice. Dean didn't feel the need to participate in the conversation - he knew Sam would handle it. Instead of talking he let his eyes wonder on that woman. She was gorgeous and Dean knew that she knew that. Sweetness and softness could be sensed in her gestures, but Dean just couldn't put it together with the woman they had heard in the morning at Dana's house. But there was no doubt she was the same person, her voice had such power which wasn't easy to forget.
“Oh, I'm sorry. I'm Evelyn Shade - silly me for forgetting to introduce myself. I just have so many worries right now,” Evelyn said and her voice was filled with pain. Dean stared at her face; something told him that she was acting.
“Miss Shade, I'm sorry, but we don't have time to chat right now. We are on a job here, and you are kind of disturbing that,” Sam said and looked at Dean, so he would back him up. A silent moment was created, when Dean didn't get it. He was looking at Evelyn and Sam cleared his throat trying to get Dean's attention. Dean glanced at him and understood what he had to do.
“Oh yeah. We gotta fly,” Dean said and gave a quick smirk to Evelyn. Evelyn’s expression started to show disappointment, but still she had a little smile on her face. Her emotions and face expressions were too perfect, crossed through Dean's mind.
“Of course. I understand that agents like you are very busy,” Evelyn said and then turned around and left. She walked smoothly away and rocked hers hips slowly. Dean and Sam looked after her: Sam much more interested than Dean. When Evelyn turned to left from the crossing, Sam and Dean turned to walk towards the front door.
“I hope you did notice that she was the same woman that we heard this morning in the coroner’s house,” Dean notified in a vapid voice. He really tried to keep his mind on the mission: think only of the next thing he had to do, but it was too clear to him. So his mind wondered away from there and flew far away again. Right after Evelyn disappeared, he didn't have anything that would have kept his mind there with Sam.
Sam said something, so Dean moved his eyes to Sam. Sam was staring at him, like he waited for an answer. Dean shrugged and kept walking.
“What the hell, man?” Sam suddenly asked and grabbed Dean's arm. Dean looked at him surprised.
“What?” Dean asked.
“A moment ago a gorgeous looking woman just left, you barely said a word and to top off everything you didn't even try to hit on her! Then I try to talk to you about her - figure out what her deal is and you just walk forward like a freaking zombie!” Sam complained to Dean.
“I don't hit on every woman is see!” Dean defended himself.
“That's not the problem and you know that! You aren't concentrating on the job, because of that Liz -girl. I'm not stupid, Dean - I can see that she is bothering you. Just tell me what this is all about,” Sam tried to get Dean to talk, but Dean didn't want to. His eyes darkened when Sam mentioned Liz's name.
“Sam, let go. Let's just go in and do our job,” Dean suggested and started to walk forward. Sam’s hand dropped down and he shook his head. Dean really didn't want to talk. Dean reached the door first and just knocked. He tried to be fast so Sam wouldn't have another chance to start asking him about Liz. Sam ran next to Dean just before the door opened.
Behind the door stood about a 30-year-old woman, whose blond hair was in a loose ponytail in the neck and her face were red from all the crying.
“Hey, miss Cage. I'm agent Scott and here is agent Johnson. I was the one who called you earlier,” Sam started talking automatically. Both of the boys showed Miss Cage their IDs, but she didn't even look at them. She just moved away from the door and started walking back to the house. Sam and Dean hurried after her and Dean, who came last, closed the door behind him. They followed her to the living room.
Sam and Dean sat down on a couch and Miss Cage sat on a chair.
“Miss Cage, when did your brother disappear?” Sam asked, while Dean's eyes studied the cozy living room. It was clear that she lived alone and her brother was important to her: his pictures were all over the place.
“Call me Mina. About a week ago,” Mina answered in a tiny voice. Her broken voice drew Dean's attention. He watched that broken girl, and felt so bad for her - maybe because she reminded him of sobbing Liz on the floor of the Crashdown.
“Okay, Mina. Did he act weird before he disappeared?” Sam asked the second question.
“No. He was still scared to go alone outside after dark, but he tried to hide it from me. But I saw it in his eyes. That's why none of this makes any sense. He never would have went out alone. He didn't have any reason,” Mina said and slowly her sobbing started to come back. She talked so fast that Sam didn't understand anything. Dean in the other hand, didn't actually even listen.
“I'm sorry, Mina, but you talked too fast. Why was he afraid of the dark and what doesn't make sense?” Sam asked watching Mina intensively. He gave Mina time to get her cry under control. Mina squeezed her lips together and took a deep breath through her nose. Slowly her breathing became normal and she could talk again.
“He got really badly mugged little over month ago. It was horrible - he was in a hospital for two weeks after that. The worst part was his neck... It was full with bite marks. It reminded him of it every time he looked in the mirror. That's why he lived here with me - I wanted him to be fully recovered before going home. Then... Week ago, he wasn't here at the morning and I am 100% sure that he went to sleep the night before that,” Mina crashed again. She buried her face in her hands and cried out loud. Dean couldn't get his eyes out of her fragile essence: he didn't see Mina Cage anymore, he saw petite Liz Parker.
It didn't matter that Mina was totally different than Liz: Mina had blond neglected hair, when Liz's hair was dark brown and it shined every time light hit it. Mina was as tall as Liz was petite. Mina's voice broke Dean's picture of Liz.
“You’ve got to find him. He is all I have. He has always been. He is my brother!” Mina appealed to Sam and Dean, and both of them understood her.
“We’ll do everything we can. I think that this is enough,” Sam said and smiled a little. He rose from the couch and Dean followed him. Mina showed them the way to the door. She opened it.
“Take care of yourself,” Dean said when he stepped out from the door. Sam turned to Mina.
“I'm sure everything will be fine, at least in time,” Sam tried to prepare Mina for the fact that her brother was never going to come back. Instead of answering Sam's words she jumped on his neck and hugged him tight.
“They are coming tonight. Help me,” Mina whispered quickly in Sam's ear and then let go of him.
“Bye then agents,” Mina said, pushed Sam out and closed the door. Sam looked shocked and Dean glanced at him.
“If you show that face every time a girl touches you, no wonder you never get laid,” Dean tried to catch his usual cocky joke style, but his joke didn't affect Sam or himself. Sam started to walk towards the Impala and Dean followed him. After they got into the car, Sam turned to Dean.
“There is more. That Evelyn must have something to do with this,” Sam said and looked really concentrated. Dean just nodded.
“When Mina hugged me, she really just wanted to say me that we have to help her. She said that they are coming tonight,” Sam explained and Dean just nodded again. It didn't take long before they were back in their motel. Sam looked around surprised and then at Dean.
“Why we are here?” Sam asked, “Shouldn't we go to the library or somewhere to do the research about Evelyn?”
“I need sleep,” Dean announced and got out from the car. He didn't look at Sam, he just walked towards their room. He had decided that if he slept for an hour or two, Liz wouldn't bother him this much. It was all because he was tired, or so he told himself. Dean heard how the car door behind him slammed shut.
“This is about her again?” Sam asked. Dean didn't answer, he just kept walking and went into the room. Sam followed him and was starting to get pissed off.
“Dean, seriously. You can't be so obsessed about this. You need to let her go - there is another girl who needs our help. Girl who fears for her life,” Sam said loudly. Dean didn't answer, he just started to put one of the beds in order.
“Mina needs our help more than Liz. From what I have seen I would say that Liz can take care of herself, unlike Mina,” Sam said. Dean remained silent.
“Dean, talk to me!!” Sam yelled and grabbed Dean from behind. Dean turned around and pushed Sam to the wall.
“Don't you remember her?” Dean asked.
