Interesting musings! I wasn't thinking so much about fanfic when I saw the question and my first thought was Jane Eyre.

And strangely enough, I was just thinking about Farscape earlier today! It's getting to be time for another rewatch.

It's funny, because that prompt came so much in the context of this particular conversation about fic, it didn't occur to me to think of it more broadly, but that's an interesting question! My answer wouldn't be Jane Eyre, which I've never liked nearly as much as everyone else. Rochester is so not my guy. I know, I know... Off the top of my head, thinking of novels: Possession has some moments, for sure. Dracula might be a contender for the sheer spot-on use of extended metaphor for sex. Persuasion, of course, would go on the list for Wentworth's letter alone. Hmm. Will have to continue thinking about this!

I love Rochester, obviously, but I understand. I've never understood the the appeal of Heathcilff at all.

I'll have to keep thinking as well!
