Today was all full of "ohgodohgodohgod SO MUCH TO DO!!!!" again, so I may not reply to comments right away or, well, ever (I'll get better again after this whole dissertation thing is done, but I can't promise I'll catch up with the backlog). Oh, oh! I'm watching V and have exactly the same sorts of thoughts about how on paper I ought to love it and yet cannot bring myself to care (even enough to tell my flist I'm sort of watching it, apparently; though it's worth noting I'm a bunch of episodes behind at this point).

Mostly at this point I'm still watching because my husband kind of vaguely likes it (though not to the point we don't spend half the episodes laughing and comedically shipping "SINGLE MOTHER VERSUS PRIEST!" because seriously, it's like the producers were desperate to come up with the most angsty couple evaaaaar. Also pretty much the only character we universally love is um, that dude who is Anna's assistant? The one who always looks like he has a very large crush on Erica, but it would involve her beating him up or something. We still have no idea what his name is, but we love him. Because he is ridiculous.)

I think my problem with it is...I don't really care about any of the characters? And because it's slow I need to. Like, I don't hate any of ( ... )

Well, it looks like you've got one more, but if anyone was doubting I will totally testify that V is not very good. Yet still not awful. Though, to steal beccatoria phrase, SINGLE MOM VERSUS PRIEST FTW! It is sad that apart from one promo pic from their comm, there really isn't any Jack/Erica put out by fandom I find that interesting though. Or just Jack. Or Val. Or anything that makes the show more interesting than it is to watch.

This is the problem, yes? It's not so bad that I can either entirely mock it or just turn it off. It's got lots of potential. It's just...not living up to it at all and doesn't even seem to be moving in a direction where it might successfully do so. Hmm.

And yeah, the wee Jack/Erica fandom isn't impressing me very much yet--though to be fair, there's not so very much to work with. I was kind of pleased that the first Jack/Erica porn appeared this week, but less impressed with the actual substance of said porn. He's a PRIEST, fcol! That's going to be some dark, angsty sex if/when it happens, not light and playful! (I actually do think if Jack and Erica were ever to get together it would probably be tremendously dark and unhealthy, which, of course, is entirely the appeal. Or would be the appeal if they, y'know, had any personalities...)
