Here's hoping a new era for the 'Cats is about to begin.

Just as long as they don't beat Wake Forest, that is. :P

*raises glass*

I wonder if Kentucky and Wake Forest have ever played each other, actually. Only very occasionally, if it's ever happened, I think--only in the tournament. So hopefully we don't have too much to worry about!

Sorry! In the cold light of day, well, yes, that wasn't very nice of me. :(

And I really do feel for y'all, because I have been on the receiving end of having one's beloved and successful coach take off for greener pastures and then ultimately return to coach one's bitter, in-state rival--traitor!!!, and that does suck tremendously.

Ha, no, your comments were fine. I was speaking about Calipari's sudden but inevitable betrayal. I can't say that I wouldn't gloat a little if our roles were reversed. :)

Let's hope things improve! I can't seem to get excited at the moment, as next year seems soooo far away. And my last optimism at a fresh start didn't turn out so well.

I really should've added my UK icon back for basketball season.

I was excited when I heard, and I remain optimistic, but yeah, it's going to be nine months before he actually does anything, and in the meantime we can only wait and see. I do think I'm more optimistic this time (the phrase "it could hardly get worse" has crossed my mind, but that smacks of famous last words, and I don't want to jinx us): Calipari may have some sketchy recruiting issues in his past, and I can't say that thrills me, but otherwise he and Kentucky seem like a match made in heaven. He has a long and proven coaching record, he wins on a big level consistently, and he's got the personality (and let's face it, arrogance) for the job.

But who knows! I can't say I'm thrilled by the salary they're paying him, for one. I guess we'll see how it goes.
