Something I was reading pointed out that this is the fifth straight year that Duke has failed to make it to the Elite Eight (and in not all of those years did they even make it to the Sweet Sixteen, of course). So it starts to seem like expecting them to go further than that is a bad bet!

Apparently the 9-year-old son of one of my Facebook friends only has FOUR losses in his bracket so far!!! Craziness!!!

There is a press conference at 4:30 Eastern today. It's streaming live on ukathletics.com. I'd say Gillespie's gone. But will they have an announcement of a new coach?

Yay for Duke trouncing!

Yeah, I saw that. I'm headed out the door soon so will not be able to watch it, but sportsline.com is calling it a sure thing that Gillispie's gone. But whether there will be an announcement of a new coach is indeed the thing. The three names I've seen most consistently speculated are Donovan, Calipari, and Tom Izzo--all of whose current teams are now out of their respective tournaments, so it's not completely unreasonable that if one of them had been offered the job and accepted it, the announcement could be made today. I have no idea, though. I think my money would be on Donovan...

ETA: The Lex. Herald-Leader's homepage (kentucky.com) claims that yes, Billy G. definitely out--it's official--and that there is not a plan to announce a new coach yet.

I didn't see the press conference but read the gist. The suspense begins . . .
