Tubby quits Kentucky to go to Minnesota. There's the part of me that feels sorry for him, that can't blame him, because he's been treated terribly by the Kentucky faithful the past two years. And then there's the part of me that is the Kentucky faithful and can't help getting excited about getting a new coach who will get us back where we should be ( Read more... )

Just last night I said to hubby, "I guess Tubby staying since we haven't heard anything since they lost." Then I see the paper this morning.

Ditto on everything you said. I would *love* to see Donovan come, but I wonder if he would actually leave Florida. I wonder if Pitino is in the running? I, personally, would like to see him back, but besides the controversy I know it Just Wouldn't Be The Same.

I'm holding out hope for Donovan because he's been all "no comment." Obviously he can't look like he's interested when he's still in the middle of trying to win the championship with Florida. But he hasn't denied interest, either, so...

I tend to think that Kentucky would be the only job for which he would leave Florida. I mean, he's got a sweet deal there, and should he manage to advance to the final four again, or even repeat as champion, I'm sure he'd be under great pressure to stay, probably with Florida sweetening his deal. But it's Kentucky. And I would imagine that for a college basketball coach, Kentucky is one of a small handful of places (North Carolina, Kansas, Duke being the others) that's sort of the holy grail of basketball. Plus he's already got connections to the program. So I'm cautiously optimistic there. That said, I imagine that there are any number of successful coaches that would consider leaving whatever sweet deal they've got to come to Kentucky--crazy fans and all ( ... )
