My mother, who is the most awesome mother ever, decided to buy me not just new clothes for work, not just a volume of C. S. Lewis religious writings, but series two of Doctor WhoThe list price is $100, which was way out of my price range, but I got a Borders 30% coupon in my e-mail...which still left it out of my price range. However, my mum ( Read more... )

I really enjoy C.S. Lewis's nonfiction works although his view on homosexuality makes me sad.

I agree. I think that's the next great step for Christianity though: the way gay people are treated.

Just today in church, there was this passage, in which Paul wrote, "God has arranged the parts of the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be," and I thought, you know, someday, gay Christians will be valued in the church and it won't be because the pastors can trot them out as "ex-homosexuals." It's my dream that they will be appreciated and accepted as they are.

Well today I was at Gay Pride Parade and I was really impressed by how many churches were participating, all different denominations. It was pretty incredible.

Just out of curiosity, which denom are you? I'm nondenom.

Yeah, I'm a member of a non-denominational Christian church in Portland called Imago Dei. It's very much a "young persons" church, and one of the big people in the church wrote the book Blue Like Jazz.

That is pretty much my exact reaction to S2/Doomsday. Still. I've seen it maybe 6 times by now.

But I think there's really so much more to it than that. Billie Piper, Christopher Eccleston, and David Tennant made it into something beyond just a silly program about time travel. Catherine Tate is doing it right now,

Wait - do you mean Catherine's making it into a silly program abt time travel? Coz I would have to disagree on that... (Sorry, I have no idea whether you like or dislike Donna. I, for one, adore her. ^_^)

Tennant himself has described the relationship between Rose and the Doctor as being "a love story without the shagging."

*eyeroll* How eloquent. lol.

perhaps, the Doctor will finish that sentence: "And, I suppose, if I've got one last chance to say it, Rose Tyler..."

Oh God yes please. I hope so. (And the uber shipper in me wants a passionate kiss, as well. Thats all - just a kiss! I would be sated.)

Oh, no, I love Donna. I think she's elevated it to being a much more emotional show that it has been before, like when it was all sciencey in series three.
