Yeah it really sucks that America is still employing that policy. When did that even come into being?
It definitely doesn't happen (anymore, at least) in any of the larger other countries' militaries that I know of. Definitely not in Australia, but even in Israel where there is conscription to the army of all 18 year old men and women I don't think they have it. I certainly knew of an openly gay woman who was once in the Israeli army for such a reason.
Isn't there a similar homophobic policy about Scout leaders and such over there? In some/all states? We don't have that one either..
I have a trans F-M friend who is a Cubs leader here in Aus, it's really cool.
