THE WOLF'S MEAL
inspired by these pictures

The Gods have decided that they've been around taking care of things for too long. They wish to be replaced by the mortals that they were once before, but humanity has shaped and deformed into something unworthy.

The grown-up part, at least. But there might still be hope, so they develop a little experiment.

The Gods descend unto Earth and take them all away, leaving only children behind to govern their world and do whatever they please to live and survive, memories of their parents wiped away, totally unaware of what is expected of them and who perpetrated it. The Gods are pleased with what unfolds, and it quickly becomes more of a spectacle than official preparations to pass the world on to them.

The children gather, destroy, build and organize themselves. Some are simply groups as close as family, others have created their own tribes, complete with titles and their own rules. The kids no longer count their years; time has become a blur and their ages have been frozen or delayed until the Gods decide otherwise.

When all seems to be going well, a new factor is added to the game: children are gradually given supernatural abilities to see what they make of their new power. Instead of simply conceding them, the Gods propose a creative exercise among one another to come up with names -- such as The Carved Head, The Hummingbird's Eye, etc. -- and create supernatural abilities that befit them.

As for the children, it has no longer become about how tall or strong you are, but how powerful as well.

What could possibly go wrong?

forty-five
the carved head
Psychic powers, can read thoughts, move objects with his mind, even control wills. Not yet sure of his full potential. Blunt, proud, curious about many things, sometimes a little too much for his own good.

pickpocket
the touching fingers
Can unlock anything and solve any kind of puzzle by touch (mild form of telekinesis). A little less confident than he'd like, artful and collected, tries to see the best out of the worst situations.

king
the hummingbird's eye
Can see hidden objects and hidden truths. Slowly being corrupted by the Gods' power and wondering what he can do with his own.

middle
child on the moon
Communicates with dead children, makes obedient zombies out of them sometimes. Doesn't necessarily enjoy this. Prefers to be left alone, wouldn't hurt a fly unless it tried to hurt him first.

name here
the gathering song
Creator's choice.
