for my friend, Pinki, whom I love

I just noticed that someone, in an act of sheer passive-aggressiveness and cowardice, sent you an anonymous livejournal gift in the form of a raised middle finger. While I'm confused as to why livejournal would even offer such a thing, I'm even more astounded that someone would have the audacity to send you one. Excuse my language, but anonymity is ( Read more... )

Okay, I don't really understand what's going on or who all is involved, but the fact that this is happening at all... I'm so disheartened by it. What is being accomplished by such malice? When did we start resorting to nasty lj-gifts? *shakes head* I'm surprised and saddened. :(

My point exactly, Sandy. I don't know what happened, but I can say this is all pretty absurd and pathetic.

That is true. Whoever did that should be embarrassed, especially since they've been called out on it. It's one thing to have a disagreement with something, its another thing to act like you're 12 years old and back on the playground.

Too much drama on LJ recently for my taste. Didn't we all get to know each other over a shared common interest? Can't we go back to just a shared comradery and respect for one another even if we no longer care for additional friendships?

This is exactly why my friends list has never had more than about 10 people on it. I used my journal primarily for fan stuff and developed friendships with a handful of people that I liked outside of fandom. I think there's just too many people that use the internet, more specifically websites like myspace and livejournal, to play these petty games, get attention, and create the bullshit drama that they thrive on. Personally, I have neither the time nor the interest in such behavior or people.

Yes, sometimes it seems like a popularity contest. I thought I left that when I walked away from high school.

Unfortunately, high school seems to be where most people peaked, and they continue to live their lives as such.
