Delia sent an email message to some of her loved ones that read in part:So, I've been thinking a lot about my birthday, what it means to me, and what I want. 1. Think twice before you speak; it's easy to be witty, but it's not always kind. Do you really want a laugh at someone else's expense?

2. There is nothing wrong with courtesy. Good manners don't cost anything and make you feel like a million bucks.

You have raised pretty amazing girls. I just think you should know that especially as I am now at the beginning on my own parenting adventure, when I read your posts about your daughters, I take so much inspiration from how you've raised them.

I wish to point out that you've raised such amazing girls that Delia, at the height of the "latest gadget" age, wants something far more valuable and interesting. There's maturity and a good head - and you've been key in creating that. Happy birthday to Delia - your Sweet 16 sounds like it was very sweet, indeed ( ... )
