It's possible that's an existing choir (college choir, probably) and that is their choir dress. We never had knee-length dresses in choir in college, but we certainly had some that were very strong colors. (My least favorite was the hot pink with silver sequins. We were hosting a high school choir competition and one of the teens told us that our dresses hurt her eyes. Mine, too, kid.) The coral ones a few years later were much classier.
