Lockdown

Lockdown sucks.

...I just thought that might be a somehow important point to clarify.

Incidentally, did you know that the Russian word "Tsar" and the German word "Kaiser" are both derived from the name of Julius Caesar? Yup.

Lockdowns are terrible. Je les déteste. Can't you scientists do something about them, particularly the frequency of them?

I bet you a chocolate bar I'm stuck somewhere worse than you are though.

Julius Caesar was an interesting man - good military leader, had some nice strategies. No Napoleon though.

We're working on it. The problem's in narrowing the parameters; see, the Ancients' programming has quite a different perception of what's a threat to what we do. We could quite easily stop the system from crashing the base at the first sign of the flu, but doing so would in all likelihood also stop the automated lockdown in the event of a serious outbreak, like that nanovirus. But, yeah, we're working through it.

I'll take that bet! Damn, if there's anywhere worse to be holed up in than the laundry room, whoever's holed up in there deserves a chocolate bar.

It alludes me how the Ancients could come up with an intricate safeguard system for detecting the common colds presence in Atlantis, but they couldn't come up with a back up plan for powering their city's shield.

Well, it's not the laundry room but I still think it's pretty bad. I'm currently stuck in, for who knows how long, that science lab over in 2B - the one that smells like tuna fish? Although it's not the location itself that makes it so horrible, it's the company. I've got Kavanagh stuck in here with me! Surely, you can't top that?

Well, you see, it's not that simple. Any kind of shield requires a massive amount of power to be sustained - and this one was holding back an ocean for over ten thousand years. Compared to that? Sensors and a couple of doors really aren't a huge deal.

Oh my God, and we've been down for, what, going on two hours now? That's rough.

Of course, I'd argue that Kavanaugh makes for a better conversationalist than the front loader, but... eh, to be totally honest, I'm leaning towards the front loader. So, I guess that's my last Snickers bar accounted for.
