Flipkart had come out with some offer during it's 23-25 june sale stuff. Had an 700 bucks exchange offer for Honor Bee against any phone with valid IMEI (considering that 50 was pickup cost, the 750 exchange effectively ends as 700). Well, that's what I had read I felt. None the less sent email to the person after placing order that I have two ( Read more... )

I'm no fan of any of these e-biz sites, but to be honest, you really can't blame them, in this particular case, Peeyush! Here's my reasoning; they created an offer whereby they pay out (or reduce Rs x from your next purchase), only condition being your mobile should have a valid IMEI number and that it be in working condition (I'm assuming they don't accept dead phones, because checking for IMEI wouldn't even be a possibility there). In your mail to them, you mentioned that you don't have a charger to give away with the phone. They replied that it's ok by them, that you are not giving your charger. However, you expected them to realize that your phone can't even be powered on, because you don't have the said charger (you never told them that your phone couldn't be powered on as you didn't have the charger). That expectation is rather unfair, I must say. They probably should have mentioned on their site the condition that the IMEI number should be verifiable by the delivery person by interaction with phone, but they probably assumed ( ... )

Dude, it's alright if you don't agree with me. I don't expect everyone or anyone to agree with whatever I write here. I would have cancelled order myself on day 1 if they had mentioned that they wanted the phone switched on. Forget that, I would have probably tried to buy some kekda charger thingy from station side vendors and would have charged the batteries if it was conveyed to me on day 1 in their reply. I read my mail chain again a couple of times trying to figure out where I have gone wrong in this entire episode. BTW, did you see me anywhere forcing them to accept the phone in current switched off state in any mail chain? I am not and I was not desperate for either this exchange or a new phone. The episode was and is closed from my side and this blog is just a reminder to me, not to engage with Flipkart ever again with my reasons for myself to remember. Again, I don't expect you to agree about anything I have written here and I do hope you don't mind me disagreeing with whatever things you have written about "too much" and " ( ... )

:) Ultimately, they didn't think from your perspective and you didn't think from theirs! When a customer says there is no charger, they are wired to think that the customer is referring to the deal not including the charger, which they clarified was OK with them. What they failed to factor, was the implication of your not having a charger, that is, your inability to charge the phone. Often, things we believe to be obvious are not obvious to others! If your mail had mentioned that your phone cannot be powered on, they would have indeed replied differently. I still think it's communication error for which they may be given the benefit of doubt, but that's just me, Peeyush! They should also have mentioned in their list of terms and conditions that the phone should be in a a state to be powered on to perform the IMEI check.

Erm... I only came across this today. Might have been able to help with my insider privileges if I had read this earlier.
