I'm getting married tomorrow.No matter how many times she thinks it, Thayet can't quite believe this is really happening. Jon walks out into the garden, stopping for a moment to take a deep breath and appreciate the night's beauty. He glances over the garden, admiring the extra work the gardeners have done to prepare for the wedding.

He catches a glimpse of movement out of the corner of his eye and grins in recognition.

"Couldn't sleep either, my love?"

"Buri is behaving much like a mother hen," she comments lightly, peaking at him from around a small hedge. "One would think tomorrow is a special occasion."

He leans down and peers back around the hedge at her, making his eyes wide and round.

In a high, squeaky voice, "Isn't it bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding?"

He grins and ducks to avoid getting thwapped.

Thayet is about to become queen. She does not thwap. She might, however, pull a few leaves off said hedge and sprinkle them over Jon's head.

"I suspect the fates will forgive us this travesty. Especially if they have any idea what the palace has been like recently."
