Jeff doesn't want to be here at The Ballroom with the group, or more precisely, be near Annie, but he hasn't been to a group outing for a little over three months now. That's when the self-pitying had started. Just over four months ago, a month after saving Greendale from subway and realizing his feelings for Annie, she announced that she was in a relationship with a guy named Tom. He was a cross between Rich and Vaughn which made Jeff instantly hate him but this time he kept those thoughts to himself.

Tom wrote Annie songs, but even though he played the part of being a hippy pretty well, he didn't look like one. He was sort of built, though not as much as Jeff, and was part of Annie's criminology class. But the part Jeff hated the most, much to his surprise, was that Tom was only a year older than Annie, which made him perfect for her according to Shirley and Britta. So Jeff had been avoiding the group as much as possible for the majority of summer. All the current group members liked Tom and would invite him to participate in most of their activities, so Jeff would always make the excuse of trying to spend more time with his mother to avoid being around the group, or as he put it to himself, Annie and her new guy.

But tonight Tom was out of town due to a family emergency of sorts and the group had forced Jeff into coming out. He was mostly ok with it, seeing as Tom wouldn't be there, although Abed had figured out straight away that was the reason Jeff was happy to come out. Abed also knew Jeff had been lying about seeing his mother because he didn't want to be around Annie and Tom, but he'd kept it to himself, hoping to confront Jeff about it when they were alone. Abed looked over at the bar and saw Jeff standing by himself and made his way over to him.

"Why have you been lying to us Jeff?" Abed asked, causing Jeff to jump in surprise, although Abed figured he already knew the answer.

"Jeez,Abed don't sneak up on me like that. And I don't know what you're talking about," Jeff said before taking another sip of his scotch.

"Jeff, we've known each other for five years now and it doesn't take a human computer like me to figure out why you came tonight".

"The fact you guys forced me into coming didn't give it away?"his answer is laced with sarcasm.

"No, the fact that Tom isn't here is why you agreed to come. You could've easily talked your way out of it but you didn't."

"Why didn't you become a lawyer Abed?"

"Becaus-"

"It was rhetorical a question."

"Why do you hate Tom, Jeff?"

Jeff let out a little sigh before answering."What, you didn't figure that out too, Abed?"

"I'm pretty sure I know why Jeff, just figured I'd give you the option to tell me yourself. You don't hide your jealousy well Jeff, I'm surprised the others haven't figured it out yet."

"Well then let's hear it." Jeff took a rather large swig of his scotch this time.

Abed shrugged at Jeff."You should've told Annie it was her that opened the door Borchert's lab then maybe things might if turned out differently."

"I'm not going to bother asking you how you know that."

"If you ever get the chance to tell her how you feel you should take it."

"Yeah like that's ever going to happen now that she's with mister perfect hippy boy."

"Jeff, you know that you'll get the chance again you just have to act on it when that chance comes." Abed pats Jeff's shoulder then heads off to find Rachel.

A few hours pass and Jeff knows he's had a few too many, along with the rest of the group. He eventually made his way to the booth where the group was situated, and sat as far away from Annie as he could - not wanting to be too close to her at this particular time. After a few more drinks, Shirley left to take the inebriated Duncan home. Duncan had wasted no time in getting hammered, and since Shirley only had one drink throughout the night she offered to give him a ride. And when Britta almost got into a fight with another woman, Abed and Rachel had to pull her away and take her home in order to avoid another incident with the police going on her record. That left Jeff alone with Annie, who promptly decided to catch a cab with him. The whole thing would've made him uncomfortable, but he was drunk enough that he didn't really care by that point.

They arrived at Jeff's apartment first; Jeff paid the cab driver for his portion of the trip and headed towards the main lobby door with Annie trotting close behind him so she could say goodbye. What he hadn't accounted for was that despite being pretty drunk, she could still interrogate him pretty well.

"So, why have you been ignoring us Jeff?" She asked whilst crossing her arms defiantly over her chest.

"Come on Annie, I'm not in the mood. Let's just say our goodbyes and call it a night," Jeff replied. He wasn't in the mood to talk about it, plus, he was worried she'd been spending too much time with Abed and might already have a clue as to what he was feeling.

"Cut the crap Jeff, I know you're jealous about Tom being with me but you have no right to be. You have Britta so why are you being like this?"

"What?! Jeff sputtered Why do you think I still have Britta?" He asked incredulously, making air quotes around the words 'have Britta.'

"Because… you guys are getting married aren't you?" Annie asked tentatively, surprised by his visceral reaction.

"Wait she didn't tell you? We called it off after we saved Greendale."

"Oh," Annie let her arms drop to her side. She hadn't expected that.

"Good night Annie."

"Good night Jeff."

With that they leaned in for a hug; after a short while they pulled apart slightly, neither one wanting to let go. It was almost like the night of the tranny dance but filled with large amounts of alcohol this time, they looked deep into each other's eyes for what felt like the first time. Annie began to feel the butterflies form in her stomach, she never got this feeling when she was with Tom, she only got them when she and Jeff had one of their moments when she thought they were getting close. She became good and pushing those feelings away but now with the alcohol flowing through her system she was confused and conflicted. She had moved on from Jeff because she thought he had moved on with Britta, She looked at him standing only inches away from her and those feelings she so desperately tried hideaway came back with a fury. Before she knew it both her and Jeff were leaning towards each other as if some powerful lust magnet was pulling them together.

Their lips smashed against each other in a heat of passion. After a minute or so of tongue wrestling they broke apart and both sighed.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that." Jeff said slowly, moving back a tiny ways from Annie.

"I think both parties are at fault here." She said with an awkward laugh.

They tried to break away, but again they were drawn into each other's eyes and soon they were moving in for another kiss, this one just as intense as the before either of them knew it they'd found their way to his bed and were screwing each other's brains out in a heat of drunken passion.

The next morning Annie woke up next to Jeff who seemed to be lost in a deep sleep. She glanced over at his bedside clock which read 9:16am. She suddenly sits up in the bed , sparing a quick glance at Jeff who hadn't woken. She tried to replay the events of the previous night, but all she got was the pain of a headache every time she tried. Thatshe and Jeff had had sex was certain, but she had a boyfriend and she wasn't the type of person who cheats on someone.

"Oh shit." She whispered to herself, knowing that she would have to tell Tom about this. It wouldn't be right or fair to not tell him, even if it meant that she would lose him. This wasn't like her at all, If she'd been sober none of this would of happened.

Jeff rolled over onto his side so his back was facing her, and she saw the opportunity to escape without waking him and to avoid the awkward conversation. She knew it would happen eventually, or maybe, just maybe, if she was lucky he'd had too much to drink and would forget about it. She snuck out of the bed, quietly got dressed and quickly tip-toed her way out of his bedroom.

"Annie?" She froze at the sound of his voice and turned to face him.

"Oh Jeff, hey, um I was just leaving," she answered somewhat awkwardly as he sat up.

"Did we, uh… you know?" He gestured between the two of them.

"What do you think Jeff?" She began to make her way towards the door.

"Annie wai-" But before he could finish she had slammed the door and left.

"Well this is going to end well."

Annie arrived back at apartment walk back had been filled trying to piece together just how last night happened. She knew she drank a fair bit but she couldn't imagine having drunk enough to make her sleep with Jeff and cheat on her boyfriend. Now she was thinking about Tom again and how she could possibly have done that to him. He'd been nothing but sweet to her and now she had gone and cheated on him. Just before she opened the door she began planning how she would tell him, though she knew it wasn't going to be easy. Once inside she saw Abed sitting in his chair watching Inspector SpaceTime.

"Hi Annie."It was odd he seemed so calm and didn't ask where she was last night, given that he knew Tom was out of town and she wasn't at his place.

"Heeeey Abed." She tried to play it cool but knew she was failing.

"You slept with Jeff didn't you?" It sounded more like a statement.

"Abed!" She realized her reaction was all the confirmation he needed. She hesitates hoping to avoid this but she knew she could confide in him. God Abed, what do I do now, I mean, I just left him there this morning when I think he may of wanted to talk about it and now I'm thinking about how to tell Tom and now he'll break up with me and now Jeff will go back to his old ways of ignoring me and for some reason I don't feel as bad as I should but it's still eating away at me." She sighed as she collapsed onto the couch next to Abed's chair.

"Well, first of all you need to breathe, then you need to tell your boyfriend. Then you need to talk to Jeff. I won't tell the rest of the group but you know how things work with us. They'll find out sooner or later."

"Thanks Abed," She leant over to give him a hug which he returned. A sudden knock on the door interrupted them.

"Looks like Jeff's really wanting that talk," he gave her a small smirk as she got up to answer the door. But once the door was open, she stood there a bit dumb struck.

"Hey Annie!"

"Tom, what ar-" She was interrupted by Tom pressing a kiss to her lips.

"Plot twist?" Abed said quietly to himself before he turned off the TV and made his way to his room.
