What are those flatish things by the chef boyardee? Kinda looks like razors or something. Is that two types of beef jerky? I forget if slim jim's were pepperoni sticks.

hmm is that something like "creamed meat product"re the "spicy smoked snack"

Hmm I've not seen the tuna kits like that here. We don't get starkist though... at least not since the late 70's. One of the other tuna people though sells flavoured tuna or premade for sandwiches. Sort of how like you can get sardines in 5 flavours.

Beef, Mechanically separted chicken, water, salt, corn syrup, dextrose, flavorings, spice, paprika, hydrolyzed corn gluten, soy and wheat gluten proteins, sodium nitrite, lactic acid starter culture.

Hormel
POTTED MEAT FOOD PRODUCT
Ingredients: Beef Tripe, Mechanically Separated Chicken, Beef Hearts, Partially Defatted Cooked Beef Fatty Tissue, Meat Broth, Vinegar, Salt, Flavoring, Sugar, Sodium Nitrite.

Not WAY to different.

One time I had fun at the grocery store. I was reading a can on a label of tuna and there was actually a helpfull employee who asked me if I needed help! I said "Yes, all of these say dolphin safe, I'm looking for the cans with the dolphin chunks, can you tell me where they are?" There was a wide eyed look and a shoulder shrug, no comment, just a resumption of restocking.

heh, I love it! plblark October 18 2005, 18:22:17 UTC
Seriously, I'm not THAT into preparedness, I'm just waking up to the idea and it seems like a good one. My Buddy Josh lived a whole summer on his supplies when he was laid off.

My work stash includes: 3 Cans of Campbell Select Soup, a box of Quaker Instant oatmeal, a box iof instant Chai, a bottle of Advil, a bottle of milti-vitamins, a big bag of candy, and whatever I could rummage form my coworkers' desks :-)

that was more of a smart assed reply on my part. I have been pretty good about hitting Sams club for lunch. When I was married it was the only way I could eat lunch, I only had to have money for a very short time and the food would last. Then when the hurricane rolled this way I stocked up on canned goods, crackers, and a few other things. I just took them to work after the storm passed. I told my co-worker to eat what he wanted. We were out of Jerky and a little low on his favorite stuff so he handed me $20 and said stock up. I did. The "preparedness" factor is a bit of a side effect.

Now you just need a get home bag.

50 miles would take about two days for someone is fair shape.

A decent setup though.
