Fascinating! But the real answer is much simplerslamlanderApril 8 2005, 22:18:18 UTC
and doesn't need that much argument. The Income tax was enabled by the 16th Amendment. The 16th Amendment was never ratified according to Constitutional law. However, it was declared "as ratified", by the Supremes, around 1960. Until it was, income tax was collected illegally for almost 30 years. Even today, it is still a voluntary tax (try voluteering to not pay it) and the only real legal requirement is to file a tax return. However since it is a volutary tax, any tax forms, which do not allow you to not pay the tax, are illegal documents.
Try making the above float in court, however. You will get a rather sad surprise. If the Gov chooses not to hear you, regardless of righteousness, it can, and does, ignore the law.
Remember stuff I was saying, a while back, about the US being a rogue government. A rogue government is defines as one that does not follow its own laws.
