*A laugh that can chill blood*

[Public]

Perhaps a call to arms against piracy in general should be in order? Cut off the lively-hood, and the killers shall be flushed into the open. And the death of pirates is never a foolhardy cause.

Simply a thought.

mad leader is still a leader, plotting, magnificent bastard, a little mad, pirates

And how pray tell can we possible cut off their livelihood? There are more scoundrels than men who sail these skies.

Oh Commander, I am not so foolish to think that we could ever destroy piracy entirely.

But we can put the fear of God into them. Raze every nest, cover every hole, poison every scrap of bait.

Am I clear enough?

Absolutely clear, lieutenant. In fact, I think I would agree with such a bold approach upon the matter if it wasn't for one minor detail...

And that would be?

A thought? Certainly. A productive one? Hardly.

...I would like to hear you opinion on it.

It would be wasted effort. It's true, we could eliminate piracy. Doing such a thing might even placate the populace. However, piracy has little to do with this situation, if any at all. It would not stop these incidents from occurring, it would simply change their nature while we spent precious resources chasing after the wrong targets. If this was merely a test, as I believe it may have been, distracting ourselves with the elimination of piracy would simply make it easier for something like what happened in Doma to happen on our own soil.

... a point.

I will by no means defend pirates. Whether these were responsible for...what happened in Doma doesn't matter. They still need to be held accountable for their actions.

But every human deserves a trial, we're not much better than them if we simply mercilessly kill.

I never spoke of killing Miss. But after trail the penalty IS hanging, you do realize?

Oh. I'm sorry for assuming.

I suppose I didn't think about it too much. I would hope that it would be treated on an individual base, taking into account those of the ship who murdered and didn't.

I learned some things about Ivona the hard way and I just think a lot of times people seem to forget that vital process. Whatever way it may end, it's proper and honest conduct is essential and that seems to be lacking in our time...

...You are a very intelligent young lady, Miss.

What you speak is the ideal, but rarely does anything fit that ideal so neatly.

I'm not against hunting pirates, but are they really the ones we should be after right now?

*obviously quoting something*

"Ours is not to question why" If Parliament decree we go after the 4423, why not take the whole system down as well?

"Ours is but to do and die." I never liked that poem, I don't plan on following now, any more then when I first heard it.

What are you proposing?

Nothing. Simply idle thoughts.

[sounds pleased I couldn't agree with that sentiment more, Heiral.

[there's a sigh, and any good nature fades from his voice] ...unfortunately, that's not our decision to make.

Sadly no, not for now. But times change Commander. Perhaps one day those with the power will, excuse my language, "pull their heads from their arses".

Those who fight today must be cruel so those of tomorrow need never be.

Hmph! I doubt they will, unless forced. It seems that a frighteningly small amount of people realize the threat right in front of them.

[quieter] ...and I suppose there's a certain wisdom to that. "We fight for a better tomorrow", as some people say.

Very much agreed Sir.

...there is no greater goal, in my opinion.
