And now I will once again return to exploring the many activities the world has to offer that aren't vidding, sleeping and eating. No, really!

A couple of notes )

I'm not sure if it's just my computer or what, but I watched the vid in WMP and it was very jerky. Then I opened DivX player, and it ran all out of synch, the song was over way before all the images finished. Even jerky, I thought your choices of scenes to illustrate the lyrics were interesting, to say the least. Or maybe, I just watched two fucked up versions, and I'm blowing dust here. Just wanted to let you know that I very much appreciate the effort. The song was very Joe Dick.

DivX recently updated the program. Maybe you don't have the latest version? A few weeks ago I noticed my DivX had been screwing up in weird ways, and downloading the newest version corrected the problem.

I had no trouble running this vid--though I happened to watch mine with VLC player.

Thanks, I'll get the newer version. I guess I'm just dumb because I downloaded the VLC player, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it to work.

okay, I have to watch this like half a dozen more times before I have coherent commentary, but it ROCKS. it's just - yeah. It's joe dick, major fuck-up, and he knows it. And just - I like the use of way differnt clips than usual, and I really liked how you used the joe-shooting-himself moment. it FIT, and it fit there better than the tag it usually is at the end of HCL vids.

can I pimp this over at a couple of HD comms?

Wow--amazing vid! The song's perfect for Joe Dick. Jealous of the sun... yeah, that's Joe.

One thing you did here that just blew me away was that you paired some scenes that clearly are synchronicitous, but that I'd never thought of in tandem before. Now, seeing them back to back, I see the congruence, and it's amazing.

For example, I never noticed before that Billy slams the chair backstage in almost exactly the same way that Joe slams the '59 Strat. The scene where Joe beats Billy near the stage in Edmonton speaks volumes when juxtaposed with the home-video scene of young Joe pushing young Billy into the chair and sitting on him. Another completely arresting pair: Billy's spitting blood in Joe's face and the gun spitting the bullet into Joe's head. God...Joe probably thought of it that way, when he did it, that it was Billy's hand on the trigger. *sigh*

It's weird and fascinating and spooky how all these moments in the film were pairs...and I never noticed until you showed us ( ... )

Oh, wow, thank you so much -- it's really lovely to get comments, especially such detailed ones! I'm really glad you enjoyed this.

It's funny, because I like Joe Dick so much better now than I did when I started this -- something about the vidding process makes me so sympathetic!

I posted this comment in the vidding comm, but I'm posting it here, too, because I want to be sure you get it. :)

Oh. My. Fucking. God.

This is me bowing down and kissing your feet. That was fantastic, perfect, and absolutely fucking beautiful. I loved what you did with the black and white, and your clip choices for certain lyrics gave me goosebumps. Literally. This is Joe Dick. You got him, nailed him, you did him fucking justice. I give you a standing ovation and spit hockers of love in your general direction. GENIUS! You took a lyrically perfect song for Joe, and it was a brave choice musically, and made the twangy vocals mesh with Joe's personality perfectly.

A side note... I used to hang out with the Wicker Park crowd back in the early nineties, and Handsome Family was a favorite of mine. I adore their song Moving Furniture Around, and I'm so happy to hear them again.

Oh, wow. Dude, seriously, this comment made my entire week. I am incredibly thrilled that not only did this vid work for you, but that it did so in such a big way. Thank you so, so much!

So, I have a question.

What program do you use to make vids? Like, the actual editing?

I, uh, can't watch the vid from this computer, which is why there's no glowing feedback. I didn't mean to completely ignore the fact that you're posting pretty creations, and I'll totally comment when I can :D

Hee, I understand. I'm using ukead video studio. There's a 30 day free trial, but I like it enough I think I'll end up buying the real deal.
