HELLO THERE

Jul 23, 2008 23:49

I have not been on lj since sometime Monday afternoon, but I felt a need to come on right now as soon as we got back to speshope's apartment just to inform you all just how completely I disliked WALL-E. (For the first half of the movie I actually hated it, so that was actually quite a move up in the last half, to be hair.) SO MANY OF MY OWN BIZARRE ( Read more... )

I want to clarify that HSMII was your choice of movie.

I chose the much more cool Step Up 2: THE STREETS.

but the all important question- does Step Up 2: The Streets feature one Channing Tatum, the sole reason I paid 11.75 to see the first Step Up in a theater?

I just looked this up on imdb, and the answer is actully yes! He was totally in it for like five minutes. He had a dance off with the main girl.

Wall-E squicked me soooo much (the overwhelming political message! that is not what I paid for!)

But, you know. I liked Wall-E and Eva, so whatever.

The political message didn't bug me so much, I was just busy being ARGH for the reasons in the comment below.

My number one squick of all time is easiest to explain by the phrase "infinite loneliness." Usually this is in the context of people all alone in space forever (which comes up more often than you would think, strangely) but it turns out being the only being left on an entire planet ALSO hits that. Especially when that being has a job that will never be finished in a million years ( ... )

1. ...He had his cockroach buddy? No, okay, I see your point - when he replaced his worn-out treads, my brother and I turned to each other in horror and mouthed, He just stole shoes off a dead guy. So, yeah, grim.

2. Interesting. Sounds like the Uncanny Valley lies in a different place on your mental map than most other people’s.

3. Normally I have very sensitive stalker!radar - “Every Breath You Take” by the Police = CREEPIEST SONG EVER - but for the most part Wall•E didn’t set mine off, with the exception of the handholding (and I was willing to bear it for the comedy pay-off). I think it helped that in a physical sense he was clearly outclassed by EVE, with her ability to fly and ridiculously powerful ray gun. (What the hell kind of plants were they expecting her to find?)
