So, I was going to do Scarecrow and Mrs. King because I know I shipped them in a "it's kind of blurry because I was probably 3 years old" kind of way, but instead I've opted for the first ship that actually stuck with me in an "I still know every single line" kind of way.
Kate and Doug - The Cutting Edge
This film! I love every line of this! Believe me, you don't want to sit next to me when it's playing on the screen. "What were you raised in, a barn?" "Honey, where I come from we stand for the National Anthem." See? I even do it when the movie's not on. It's a condition!
Kate and Doug are two incredibly dynamic, stubborn, snartastic partners with witty banter and jabs and tension and ultimately they end up professing their love and making out in front of a television audience. During the Olympics. Because screw the world - when you've got to make out, you've got to make out.
She actually calls him a cretin. That's love!
The snarky:
KATE: I'm sure there's nothing I do that you'd find exciting. I don't open beer bottles with my toes, I don't sit around and count what's left of my teeth, hey, I don't even enjoy a good tractor pull. It's been a limited existence, but I've gotten used to it.
DOUG: Life of the party, huh? Place must be crawling with guys.
KATE: As a matter of fact, I do have a boyfriend.
DOUG: Well there's a rough gig. What do you do, keep him chained up in the basement?
KATE: Hale at the moment is working in my father's London office, he's an MBA - Harvard. You might have heard of it. They do have a hockey team.
DOUG: He must be a very smart guy.
Anton: First positions, please.
Doug: Bet you look pretty good from a few thousand miles away.
And the mushy:
DOUG: You don't have to do this.
KATE: Yes, I do.
DOUG: Why?
KATE: Because, I love you.
